Our Principles for Handling Your Data

Privacy Philosophy

Earthlings are building a transnational people on principles opposite to modern corporate practice. Most platforms treat personal data as a commodity. We treat it as an integral part of human dignity.

Three Fundamental Principles

1. Data Minimalism: Each category of data has a clear purpose and is collected only when necessary.

2. Your Control: Data belongs to you, not to us.

3. Transparency Over Secrecy: We explain every decision regarding data collection or use in plain language, without legal jargon.

This Policy describes how these principles are put into practice within the infrastructure of the Earthlings people.

SECTION 02

What Data We Collect and Why

Honesty begins with clarity. Here is the complete list of data we collect, with an explanation of the purpose of each category:

Identification Data

What we collect: First and last name, nickname (pseudonym of your choice), email address, country of residence, year of birth (age 18+ confirmation).

Nickname is used in your SBT passport and for authorization on the Earthlings people's digital platform — you choose it yourself.

First and last name are required to form the verifiable registry of the Earthlings people. Upon reaching sufficient numbers, the Earthlings people plan to apply to the UN and other international organizations for official recognition. International organizations may require confirmation of participant authenticity, including selective verification — contacting specific individuals by email for personal confirmation of membership. Storing real data ensures this possibility.

Email is used for registration confirmation, communication with you regarding platform matters, and as a verification channel during selective checks by international organizations.

Country of residence is required for geographic distribution statistics of the Earthlings people and confirmation of the transnational nature of the community.

Age requirement: Participation in the Earthlings people requires being over 18 years of age.

Biometric Data

What we collect: Mathematical templates derived from facial biometric characteristics and document data.

Why: To prevent multiple registrations and protect the integrity of the Earthlings people.

Important: We do NOT store photographs or images — only encrypted mathematical codes. Biometric verification is performed by the proprietary Earthlings system, operating on machine learning (document OCR, facial recognition, liveness detection). Only verification confirmation is stored in the Earthlings people's registry.

Technical Data

What we collect: IP address, browser and device type, operating system.

Why: For security (detecting suspicious activity), improving platform performance, and technical support.

Interaction Data

What we collect: History of your actions on the platform — pages viewed, participation in votes, activity in cells (project groups).

Why: To improve user experience and analyze the performance of various features. This data is used in aggregated (anonymized) form.

Blockchain Data

What we collect: Cryptocurrency wallet addresses, transaction history with Earthlings Coin, information about your SBT passport.

Why: For the functioning of the decentralized infrastructure and your participation in DAO. Blockchain data is stored in the public chain by the nature of the technology.

Important: Blockchain data is by definition decentralized and cannot be deleted after being recorded on the chain.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data on the following legal grounds in accordance with GDPR and other applicable data protection laws:

  • Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — registration, KYC verification, SBT passport issuance, account operation, DAO participation, transaction processing, and providing access to infrastructure. Storing first and last names is necessary to fulfill obligations to form the verifiable registry of the Earthlings people
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) — identity verification, fraud prevention and prevention of multiple registrations, platform security, service improvement, and technical support. Formation of a reliable participant registry to confirm the authenticity of the Earthlings people before international organizations
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR) — compliance with KYC/AML requirements, storage of identification data in accordance with applicable legislation, and responding to lawful requests from government authorities
  • Task in the public interest (Art. 6(1)(e) GDPR) — formation of the Earthlings people's registry for applying to international organizations (UN and others) for official recognition. Storing verifiable participant data is necessary to confirm the authenticity of the people during selective checks
  • Data accuracy principle (Art. 5(1)(d) GDPR) — the obligation to ensure the accuracy and currency of stored personal data. Since the Earthlings people's registry must contain verifiable data for presentation to international organizations, storing real names and surnames is a requirement of the data accuracy principle
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — for biometric data (special category under GDPR Article 9) and informational mailings. You may withdraw consent at any time

How We Use Data

Each category of data is used strictly for its intended purpose:

We never use your data for: advertising and marketing by third parties, sale or transfer to data brokers, creation of profiles for commercial purposes, tracking beyond the platform, any purposes not specified in this Policy.

SECTION 04

Cookie Policy

We do not use cookies on our website. This means that we do not collect or process user information through cookies, and we do not use them for any purposes, including authentication, content personalization, or analytics. Using our website does not involve automatic recording of data on your device in the form of cookies, which contributes to additional protection of your privacy and ensures a more private experience interacting with the service.

Privacy by default: The absence of cookies is part of our data minimalism philosophy. We do not track your actions, do not save browsing history, and do not create behavioral profiles. Your interaction with the platform remains as private as possible.
SECTION 05

Sharing Data with Third Parties

By default, your data remains within the Earthlings infrastructure. Exceptions are strictly limited:

Technical Partners

Biometric verification is performed by the proprietary Earthlings system. Technical partners are used for infrastructure operation (hosting, DDoS protection). These partners work strictly under our instructions and do not have access to participants' personal data.

Legal Requirements

In exceptional cases, we are obligated to transfer data at the request of courts or law enforcement authorities — but only within lawful powers and only after verifying the legitimacy of the request.

Public DAO Data

Some data is public by the nature of DAO — voting history, proposals, discussion results. This is necessary for governance transparency.

Organizational Measures

Decentralization as a Security Philosophy

Earthlings build infrastructure on the principles of decentralization. This means there is no single point whose compromise would lead to a leak of all data. Critical functions (voting, token management) operate through blockchain and smart contracts, which eliminates the possibility of manipulation.

In case of an incident: If a security breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you within 72 hours of detection and inform you of the measures taken.

Your Rights

You retain full control over your data. These are not empty words — this is platform functionality:

Right to Deactivation

You can deactivate your account and SBT passport. Data on the blockchain cannot be deleted by the nature of the technology, but the connection to your identity will be severed.

Right to Complain

You have the right to file a complaint with the data protection supervisory authority of your country if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection legislation.

How to exercise your rights: For inquiries, please contact: info@earth-lings.org. We respond within 48 hours and complete request processing within 30 days.

Inalienability of Membership

By becoming an Earthling, a person remains one by their own free choice. No majority decision, including a supermajority, can deprive a person of their belonging to the people. Leaving the Earthlings people is possible only by the voluntary will of the Earthling themselves.

SECTION 08

How Long We Store Data

We do not store data indefinitely. Retention periods are determined by necessity:

Active Accounts

Data is stored while you use the platform. Data is stored throughout the entire period of your membership in the Earthlings people.

After Account Deactivation

Upon deactivation, the connection between data and your identity is severed. Some data is retained to prevent re-registration (biometric hashes) — but in an irreversible form.

Security Logs

Technical logs (IP addresses, timestamps) are stored for up to 12 months for security and incident investigation purposes.

Blockchain Data

Records on the blockchain (transactions, votes) are stored permanently by the nature of the technology, but can be deactivated and unlinked from your identity after account deactivation.

SECTION 09

International Data Transfers

Earthlings are a transnational people. Data may be processed in different jurisdictions:

Principle of transnationality: Earthlings are not tied to one country. We choose infrastructure based on technical capabilities and the level of human rights protection, not political affiliation.
SECTION 10

Participation of Minors

Membership in the Earthlings people is available from 18 years of age. This is related to the legal nature of obligations (signing the Declaration, DAO participation, token ownership).

If we become aware that a minor has registered without parental or guardian consent, we will suspend the account until consent is confirmed or the age of 18 is reached.

Educational programs: We support educational initiatives for youth, but they are conducted through specialized programs with parental consent that do not require full registration.

We may update this Policy as technology and legislation evolve. All changes are published on this page with the effective date indicated.
